I enjoyed this poem. I read once that geese and ducks may look as if they are gliding on the pond, but they are paddling very hard beneath the surface. Many people are like that, working hard to recover from storms and floods, but out of sight of the television cameras.

Exactly. Perfect observation. But they are still swimming.
Ahhhh…..
I take the ahhh as a positive!?
totally!
... and the sun will rise tomorrow.
Pretty much.
Thank you. I need this perspective, need it desperately. Judy
Thanks for your continued support and encouragement. Poetry has the power to provide perspective. I needed that too.
thanks for a little tranquility, Suzanna -- and the reminder it's right in front of us if we take our noses off our screens and look around.
There is a place for commentary and action and a place for reflection. Thanks for commenting!
What a picture, both visual and lyrical!
My sentiments mirrored. Thank you for expressing the unease of humans during these times.
Thanks for the lovely comment. I find it interesting to really observe nature and seek parallels.
Thank you for the poem. It reminds me of “The Peace of Wild Things” by Wendell Berry. Don’t tax your life with the forethought of grief.
Well that’s a very high compliment! Thank you. Glad it resonated. I will have to go look that up again!
Tough day. Thank you Suzanna for the perspective.
Lots of paddling needed to stay afloat. Thanks for the comment.
I, too , take comfort in nature when things seem to be going so terribly wrong.
The geese aren’t watching CNN.
That helps on such a day as this. Thank you.

I think I'll go outside now.
Boy, did I need this poem today. Thanks for Nature's reminder of peace.
