Wow! This was hard to read and I understand why that was exactly what you wanted the reader to feel from the first line to the last. When I finished reading this poem I was sad and angry. Why is this disgusting scenario a part of the history of what women have had to endure to simply matter, to be recognized, to rise?

Powerful. And, saying "only to myself" is, unfortunately, the only empathy most ever experience after "down on your knees" literally and figuratively. I feel angry, knowing what still goes on in corporations, governments and all other organizations, including the faith-based.
