Isn’t it interesting how a chair can make us feel protected from the world’s woes through contact with an ancestor as we sit?

Yes, so fascinating how objects are are reminders that connect us.

I have a chair like that, too. I feel the same way about it. Thanks for putting it into words.

Find a new upholsterer!

I have the rocking chair that my mom bought used to rock me and my siblings, then I rocked my babies and then my grandkids. So many memories in that chair. Priceless.

That was over 20 years ago and I did find a new one. I also reglued and recovered her parlor couch and chair. I have her dining room table and buffet and her bedroom set. Truly priceless. Thanks for the comment. XXOO

This is lovely and sounds like a great fit for the book. Also inspired me not to get rid of the rocking chair my former mother-in-law, whom I loved, gave me many years ago. It needs an upholsterer too. 😊
