Dear Readers:
Thank you again for subscribing to Dispatches from the Heartland. I am pleased to share that my poem “The Geometry of the Plains” was published in the literary journal Impermanent Earth, which describes itself as an “experimental art project that gathers memories of changing spaces across all forms of media.” You can read the poem as well as checking out the rest of the journal here: https://impermanentearth.com/archive/suzanna-de-baca/.
I appreciate your readership and support, and — as always — I welcome your comments.
Suzanna
Congratulations!
I do like this poem, except for one phrase. "Native grasses wait to ambush innocent crops" is so opposite to what actually happens on the Iowa landscape, both now and in the past, that the image doesn't work for me. But very possibly I am missing intended irony.
Excellent images and the connection to self makes me reflect.
