Dear Readers:
One year ago this week, with encouragement from the incorrigible Julie Gammack, I launched Dispatches from the Heartland. Much to Julie’s surprise, rather than writing about my typical topics of business leadership and governance or organizational culture, I decided take a big leap of faith and share personal writing and poetry. Not quite sure of my own poetic voice, I did nothing to promote the column broadly other than post weekly. And much to my own surprise, readership has grown exponentially over the last twelve months, with so many of you responding positively and sharing poems or columns with your friends. I attribute much of the growth of the readership to my Iowa Writers’ Collaborative colleagues, a talented crew of writers who have been so incredibly supportive. Thank you to that group (listed below), to Julie Gammack, to my poetry friends, and to all of you who have subscribed. I deeply appreciate your continued readership and your comments on my posts. As we navigate life, it is always lovely to know others are out there on the journey as well, sharing a love of creativity and words and seeking meaning in the world around us.
With gratitude,
Suzanna
You are the one who needs to be thanked. I can't believe it has been a year!
