“He was never,
ever a Cubs fan,
so I don’t know
where that came from,”
John Prevost, Leo’s brother,
said in an interview
with the Chicago television station WGN
on Thursday.
“He was always
a Sox fan.”
Author’s Note:
The Catholic Church elected Pope Leo XIV on Thursday, May 7. Pope Leo is the first American pontiff. Global media exploded with coverage of the news, including reporting on what Pope Leo is thought to believe — and what this means for the Church, the world and the US.
But on lighter note in the coverage, the biggest scoop for Chicago is that Pope Leo XIV is a local South Sider and a White Sox fan — and the baseball organization is embracing the moment.
The AP and other outlets reported on Pope Leo’s team loyalty and I got a kick out of his brother’s comment.
…And as an aside, it’s just odd to think about your brother being elected Pope. That would put a spin on sibling dynamics and Christmas plans!

He is from the Americas!
North, Chicago, and South, Peru.
Perhaps he will also have a visit and stay in Canada.
What a delightful contrast to the US President.
